We are planning for the first GemsGirls event hosted by RedRoverStyle.com. We're exicited about the planning and hard work being put into it, but the real reward will come when we deliver gifts to the Gems Girls Organization!

I've Joined the GemsGirls Council
Posted by Rachael Ann {Anti-Sex Trafficking} in

Girls should be celebrated, not sold. I am joining this mission as an active member of the GemsGirls council to campaign for the rights of young ladies.
This campaign was launched in 2008, is led by survivors, and today there are 50K active supporters!
Girls Are Not for Sale is a national campaign with one goal: to inspire one million Americans to take easy, effective actions to nurture and empower American girls who have become victims of child sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, and, to protect all girls from the dangers of trafficking. Inspired by the film critically-acclaimed Showtime film Very Young Girls and the survivors whose lives it chronicles, the Campaign brings the movement to protect and empower girls to cities across America through live events, grassroots action, ad campaigns, fundraising drives, film premieres, music recordings and much more. Together we can transform America into a nation where girls are celebrated, not sold.
You can get involved too!
5 Things You Can Do Today
Change in the human trafficking movement will only come when the majority of people in the world live by this basic idea – no human being is for sale and every human being deserves human rights and protection from cruelty. GemsGirls invites you to:
+ TALK about the issue with friends and family.
+ GET WIRED Join us on Facebook, Twitter and The Council of Daughters.
+ SUPPORT the GEMS Girls Fund. Donate today.
+ SHARE Invite 5 Friends to Buy This Is to Mother You or watch Very Young Girls.
+ ORGANIZE Plan a film viewing night or fundraiser to inspire others to protect vulnerable children.
In June, I'll be organizing an event to support Gems in a special way. Details will go out in our first newsletter on May 8th! Send your e-mail to info@RedRoverStyle.com to subscribe. If you want to be part of this event by lending a hand, then e-mail me again at info@RedRoverStyle.com.

My dream to mentor, and here's where I'm starting...
Posted by Rachael Ann {Anti-Sex Trafficking} in

My dream is to one day have a platform where I can mentor young women about things that I know in terms of business, non-profit work, boys, style, and more. It is also my heart to cherish those things that the Lord finds honorable, and commit to having accountability partners that keep me in check, and can come alongside me to brainstorm new + smart ideas...
Speaking of...so, I'm about to kick-off some heavy planning for an event coming up in June to help GemsGirls. The mission of GEMS is amazing, and it is my desire to use what I have to help them. I've had quite a bit of experience hosting events in NYC, and so I'm gonna take another shot at it after...well a week. See I was part of a team that just hosted a launch for a brand new website called BestSmallBizHelp.com... {Please, check it out!}
Now, it's back to the drawing board, and I'm in a position to help another cause I feel very close to. GemsGirls. Girls Educational and Mentoring Services’ (GEMS) mission is to empower young women, ages 12-21, who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking to exit the commercial sex industry and develop to their full potential. GEMS is committed to ending commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking of children by changing individual lives, transforming public perception, and revolutionizing the systems and policies that impact sexually exploited youth.
Wow, my heart is overjoyed because I get to help this organization in a very special way, + I'm inviting all of NYC's entrepreneurs, social bloggers, media, business people, artists, students, lawyers, + the list goes on...to join RedRoverStyle.com + I in giving a gift to this beautiful organization. So, if you're like me, + you want to be part of helping this cause in a unique, yet fun way, then join the RedRoverStyle.com Event's Committee and be part of the action in hosting an awesome event...

Elisha Krauss, $10,000 Raised for Stop Child Trafficking Now
Posted by Rachael Ann {Anti-Sex Trafficking} in
Elisha Krauss, of ElishaKrauss.com and Political Columnist for RedRoverStyle.com totally inspired me with her creative and effective fundraising campaign. 1-month later from launching her campaign, she raised over $10,000 for Stop Child Trafficking Now, and she was even featured on Fox News - Happy Hour Show! Oh! And she raised awareness of the dangers of sex-trafficking all at the same time. Thank you Elisha for taking a big leap in doing awesome things for Stop Child Trafficking Now!
As for me, I can't wait to get creative and see how I can use my lifestyle to help raise funds and awareness for my favorite charity!

I Knew This Was Coming...Facebook Negatives
Posted by Rachael Ann {Anti-Sex Trafficking} in
An 18-year-old Wisconsin man posed as several girls on the social networking Web site Facebook and allegedly blackmailed underage teens into performing sexual favors. Michelle Miller reports from CBS News.
Anthony Stancl, of New Berlin, was charged Wednesday with five counts of child enticement, two counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child, two counts of third-degree sexual assault, possession of child pornography, repeated sexual assault of the same child and making a bomb threat.
Young ladies, including myself, please be careful with who you are connecting with online. Do background checks, ask your friends, seek your parent's advice, and be smart. So many lives have been ruined by the lies these men pull. Ladies, we need to stick together, and we need to keep each other accountable.
I am sure there are other men out there posing as women. Think twice.

We Care, We Are Concerned, This is Real + We Recognize It...

This evening I got to talking with my parents-in-law, and we can't help but feel the pain and shock of what's happening in America...sex slavery! This doesn't just happen to runaways and troubled teens, but traffickers are taking kids who are honor roll, who are from good families...the reality is, this is a serious problem. But, I can't help but also focus on those individuals and organizations who are helping to restore the lives of victims that have been so broken. I found this beautiful survivor voice on *Gems-Girls.org
Dominic, age 17 {Her Survivor Voice}
"Maybe you’ve never been arrested, convicted or did any time. Never kissed a boy you’ve had a crush on, or never hung out past your curfew. Never been in an abusive relationship. Never smoked pot a day in your life. Never considered stripping just to get by. I’ll tell you what we’ve done. We’ve spent many nights alone and helpless. Probably never made it past eighth grade. We’ve been hit, arrested by the system. Abused by our boyfriends. We’ve imagined flying away from all the pain…
We’re gaining self-worth back. We’ve written it all down to share what hurts. Some of us are out, some of us remain in. Some of us are in danger, all of us are scared. None of us know what makes us so different, but we all know what did. Listen to our stories because now we’re breaking the silence."
*Gems, they are empowering survivors to express their experiences, observations and desires for a better life and world. Show Gems some love + support. Also, RedRoverStyle.com will be hosting an event to support Gems-Girls this coming June. Stay tuned, and please say a prayer for this event.

Women Who Love, Create Change
Posted by Rachael Ann {Anti-Sex Trafficking} in

My sister, Elena and I had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful woman who shared her heart about the vision she has to help young women who have been trafficked domestically. I think for a good 15 minutes, Elena and I were speechless by this woman's passion. It was a beautiful moment that we shared with her. We were so encouraged because our hearts and minds were on the same page, and it looks like it could be a new beginning and direction for us to help those in need.
More to come about what we will be doing...
God bless,
